Who are NIO?
NIO is a Chinese car manufacturer which specialises in designing and developing electric vehicles.
The company was founded in 2014 and they have their headquarters in Shanghai.
What cars have NIO already made?
NIO currently has four models of vehicles.
EP9 is a two door sports car with an indirectly water cooled electric motor.
It was launched in 2016.
EC6 is a five door mid-size SUV run on a lithium-ion battery which was launched in 2020.
ES6 is another five door mid-size SUV.
It was launched in 2019 and also runs on a lithium-ion battery.
Finally the ES8 is a five door full-sized SUV with six seats.
It was launched in 2018 and is run on a lithium-ion battery.
They have four upcoming models all run on lithium-ion batteries.
This includes another SUV, two sedans and a minivan.

Are NIO expected to rival Tesla?
NIO is currently Tesla's biggest competition in China.
Earlier this month the company launched in Europe for the first time.
Norway has become the first European country where they will be sold - and the firm has said it could soon expand into the UK if there's enough interest.
Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of the EV start-up, told reporters at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show said: "We want to be part of the business community in Europe," he said. "Selling some of our vehicles to make some money is not our ultimate goal."
