2017 Tahoe Midnight Edition
Chevrolet is expanding its special Midnight Edition package to both the Tahoe and the Suburban for the 2017 model year. The blacked-out package, which includes black-painted wheels, roof rack rails, grille inserts, and Chevrolet bow-tie badges, is available on the LT and the off-road-ready Z71 Tahoe and Suburban trims. Unsurprisingly, the Midnight Edition models can only be paired with one exterior color—you guessed it—black.
While the Midnight Edition package plays to style-conscious Tahoe and Suburban customers, Chevrolet also added a handful of practical enhancements to its 2017 full-size SUVs that are more likely appeal to the wider consumer marketplace. Standard active grille shutters assist in improving aerodynamics. Although four-wheel-drive Tahoe and Suburban models see no noticeable fuel-efficiency gains as a result of this tech, two-wheel-drive models witness their EPA combined fuel-economy figures rise by 1 mpg to 19 mpg overall. Meanwhile, updates to Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system include a handful of new apps plus the addition of a Teen Driver feature that provides parents with pertinent information about their teen's driving habits. The feature debuted in the Malibu sedan last year.
On top of this, both SUVs are now available with a low-speed front automatic-braking system, which can assist in bringing the vehicle to a halt in the event of a pending collision; an improved rear-seat entertainment system brings added connectivity and functionality for back-seat riders. At this time, pricing for these options is not available.
The 2017 Tahoe and Suburban start at $48,410 and $51,410. Chevrolet has yet to release pricing for either the Tahoe or Suburban Midnight Edition, but notes that the all-black SUVs will be available before the end of the year.
